BACKGROUND

During the years preceding the Pomeranian Charitable Trust formation, there wasn’t a proper secure way to gather funds generously donated to go toward health research needed specifically for Pomeranians. In 2003 alone, approximately $5,000.00 was donated to the AKC-Canine Health Foundation. These donors included The Pomeranian Club of Canada, Ohio Valley Pomeranian Club, Pomeranian Club of Greater Des Moines, and Red River Pomeranian Club, as well as individual donors. The American Pomeranian Club recognized there was a better way to accomplish this and therefore helped to establish the PCT and was its founding donor.

UNIQUENESS

The PCT represents Pomeranians as its sole interest in the areas of health, education, and welfare. Yet,  when considering these three areas in combination, the scope of care and interest regarding Pomeranians is broadly encompassing. It brings together the efforts of those in the dog show world and the beloved pet world. Its contributors are global.

THE TRUSTEES

The founding Trustees are Cynthia Boulware, Marge Kranzfelder, and Janice Russell. All three have been active in the Pomeranian community for many years. All have bred and successfully shown their American Kennel Club registered Pomeranians and have served as officers in the American Pomeranian Club as well as their regional Pomeranian clubs. In their love for the endearing, beloved Pomeranian breed, they realize the need to help all Pomeranians and have stepped forward to do so.

In 2009, the PCT was pleased that Margaret McKee has also agreed to serve as a Trustee. She has similar background to our founding trustees and has exemplified the same dedication to the Pomeranian breed. It was during her leadership as president of the American Pomeranian Club that the PCT was founded.
